Sodia Team Revives the Architectural Jewel of Athens

May 4, 2020

One of the largest residential investments in Athens is entering its final stage of completion. The residence in question is the ONE ATHENS complex that turns the historic office building of Doxiadis in the Lycabettus Region into luxury homes accompanied with hotel facilities, such as reception, meeting room gym, spa and swimming pools.

In an area of 1.7 acres, 11,700 square meters, ONE ATHENS is a revolutionary new concept for living in downtown Athens. It boasts an unrivalled location close to Kolonaki and Syntagma square and a magnificent view to Acropolis and Lycabettus hill. With just 21 individually designed residences to suit every lifestyle, ranging from 150 – 721 sq. meters such as apartments with a unique and versatile layout, Duplexes, Townhouses with direct access to the street and the marvelous Lycabettus hill and Penthouses with rooftop terraces. ONE ATHENS raises the standard of luxury living in the heart of the city. Residents have exclusive access to a wide range of five-star facilities, including a roof garden, underground parking, private cinema, conference room, playroom as well as a fully equipped gym and personal training facilities. The complex also includes an outdoor swimming pool on the roof and a luxurious indoor swimming pool with spa facilities.

Bordering Lycabettus hill and its verdant pine forest (a rare luxury in its own right in the densely built capital), ONE ATHENS is situated in the upscale Kolonaki district, a neighborhood that for generations has gathered the city´s aesthetes, celebrities, businesspeople, fashion gurus and art lovers. ONE ATHENS project comes as a natural addition to the district´s array of prestigious establishments and residences, giving life to the famous "Doxiadis Building".

Architecture trends on ONE ATHENS

The construction is based on the latest architecture trends, while preserving the aesthetics of the original building with concrete, marble and neutral colors dominating its premises. The facade of ONE ATHENS has been renovated with light-proof concrete, crystal and Aliveri marble. Also, all residences have oak floors, autonomous heating, designer sanitaryware, a fully equipped kitchen and the most up-to-date facilities of internet, picture and sound systems. All the above are accompanied with a 24-hour security services, cleaning services and catering. ONE ATHENS will not be just a residential building but a lifestyle that meets modern requirements, while respecting the design tradition that made the Greek architecture known throughout the world over the past century.

ONE ATHENS is not just an exciting luxurious building, it is also historic. To begin with, it was initiated by the leading architect-urban planner Konstantinos Doxiadis in 1957 to build his new company´s Athens offices in the pine-clad foothills of Mount Lycabettus, a vantage point that afforded sweeping views of the city as far as the sea. Doxiadis had calculated that his top floor office would be 150 meters above sea level, on the exact same height as Parthenon of Athens, resulting in a view not just phenomenal but unique.

The building complex gradually expanded and eventually consisted of four partially constructed wings that are masterfully “clasped” next to each other and built around a central atrium, including the Athens Technological Institute and the School of Ekistics. The final form of the building was completed in 1970 and the issuance of 19 building permits was required.

The complex also housed the Doxiadis Schools (where the first design school operated, as well as the first computer in Greece). Over 25.000 draftsmen, graphic designers, interior decorators, art conservators, structural engineers, electricians and programmers graduated from here between 1958 and the closure of the school in 1976, the year after Doxiadis´ death.

Years later, several architects were inspired by Doxiadis´ philosophy of adapting ancient inspiration to contemporary design practices and initiated a project of converting his former headquarters into 21st century hi-end residences. The One Athens project was born.

The building has such an important historic value that in 2010 the Ministry of Culture declared it as a heritage building.

Not everyone has the opportunity to live inside a history-laden architecture monument, especially in a city like Athens Greece, that has seen so many changes in its urban fabric over the past century. However, as One Athens is nearing to be launched into the market, it will give this opportunity to a few lucky owners since this unique project is designed to cater even the most demanding urban dwellers and cosmopolites.

After months of intense negotiations and preparation, ONE ATHENS has finally been under Sodia Capital management, with the target of reviving the project and breathe new life into the noble center of Kolonaki.

Sodia Capital Management will initiate sales by end of the year. Seventeen (17) residences that are now owned and managed by Sodia Capital Management, will be expeditiously sold to its new lucky owners in order to meet the great interest that this project have accumulated.
